What is IP address?
The numeric address of a device on the internet — IPv4 looks like 102.89.34.10, IPv6 like 2606:4700::1.
An IP address is the number that identifies a device on the internet. IPv4 addresses are four numbers like 102.89.34.10 and are in short supply worldwide; IPv6 addresses are longer hexadecimal strings with a virtually unlimited supply. Your hosting account shares the server's IP with neighbours or gets a dedicated IP on higher plans, and your domain's A/AAAA records point at it. If your VPS arrives with an IP but your site will not load, checking that the A record matches is step one.
